Xander's Birthday

We had a great time celebrating Xander's special day. We had our family picture scheduled for the church directory that night, so I tried to make it an extra special day while the girls were at school. I arranged for one of his best buds, Asher, and his mom to join us for the morning's festivities.

We began by going to Play, a great and very fun indoor playground with tons of play spots. We got there in time for story time, which Xander loved. He is all about books and reading. The books had a jungle theme and to start out, the leader asked the kids what animals lived in the jungles. Of course, there were the typical birds, monkeys and snakes answer, but then Asher topped them all with, "Men with guns that shoot the bad guys!" The leader took it in complete stride responding, "Well, we do need to keep the jungles safe." The story time included songs, bubbles, coloring pages and (of course) stories.

The boys ran all over the rooms laughing, chasing and playing. It took a bit of coaxing, but by the end, Xander was jumping off into the foam pit all on his own. We truly wore them out while we were there!!

For lunch, we moved on to Chick-Fil-A. I had planned to let Xander have some ice cream at the end of his meal, but we simply ran out of time. However, we did get to celebrate with some cupcakes and presents. Asher gave Xander some awesome motorcycles!! He has carried them almost everywhere since he got them. Unfortunately, they disappeared the day after he got them. I thought he had simply put them in his room and couldn't see them. However, after a small room clean-up, I realized that they weren't in there. I was going to be pretty upset if he had lost them after less than 24 hours. Until . . . they were located - carefully put in a very secret hiding place next to Kalyn's bed. Hmmmm, wonder how those got there?!?

That night, we did have time to sing happy birthday to the birthday boy right after dinner. We had to wait a few days until we did presents, but in his mind, the day was great!! (I'm sure that's what he thought, at least.)
