Weekend at Wedowee

October began our month of travels. Two camping trips and a couple of days as the lake. We knew the month would be busy, but we were looking forward to it.

The first weekend brought us a reunion with some of Craig's high school buddies and their families. We wish we had the opportunities to see them more often, but unfortunately, it's takes a lot to get the three families together. Thanks so much for Rance and Kayla for setting it all up and making sure it happened.

Friday afternoon, we all loaded up in the car and began the drive down to Lake Wedowee, Alabama. Rance's parents had offered up their lake home to house our get together. Between the three families, we had eight kids and they all had a blast playing together. We spent some time out on the dock right at at sundown. It was just beautiful. We stayed up way too late of Friday night talking about parenting, God-stuff and general life issues. It was a wonderful night of fellowship and conversation.

The boys made a wonderful dinner Friday night!!

Some of the kids said that the lake was on fire. Kalyn looked at them and in her most serious voice said, "No it's not."

Saturday was filled with games, boat trips, fishing and skiing. There were tons of laughs and many memories were made. Here are some of our shots of the fun.
Sam with his boys, Josiah and Eliott

Xander attempts fishing on the boat

Craig and Xander with Rance at the helm

The kids enjoyed a number of riveting games of Cadoo

The older girls - Emma, Kalyn and Trinity - eagerly await the boat ride to start

Kayla, baby Tessie and Rance

Laurie and Lydia fight the wind on the boat ride

Craig was successful as he tried his hand (or feet) and wakeboarding . . .

. . . and then Rance showed us how he wakeboards (he's had a bit more practice)

It was a great weekend with wonderful friends!! We are already looking forward to seeing them again.

Hi Baughns! What a lovely family you have! I have never seen your blog before today, but because I have "Lake Wedowee" set up as one of my Google alerts, I received an email link to this post and I wanted to email you privately but didn't see an email address.

Anyway... my husband and I have a lovely waterfront building lot on a cove on Lake Wedowee that we would like to sell and I thought I'd let you know, just in case you have future plans to build a vacation home in that area. If so, I'll be happy to tell you more about it, send photos, etc... If not, that's fine too.

Have a great weekend!
