Lock-Out 2009

Friday night was the youth's annual Lock-Out event. It's an all-night fest with music, presenting the gospel and lots of fun. Over the years at least one of us have been able to attend and this year, we invited Craig's parents up for the night to allow both of us to participate. I know, how many adults actually WANT to stay up all night with crazy teenagers, but we love it. It's a great opportunity to chat with students and hang out with some very special adults!

The band was very entertaining and lead some great time of worship before Brett shared the truth of God's love with all the students. We loaded up the buses and headed over to Mountasia. Let's just say that it was quite an interesting ride, but we made it safely. We had tons of fun on the go-carts and I must say that I got quite the speedy car (which makes the ride that much more fun)!! After a number of laps, I got to simply hang out with one of the other leaders and monitor the kids. We even got to have some fun watching out for a newly-developing couple and monitoring the PDA (Public Displays of Affection). It's been a couple of years since we've had to watch out for that, so it was a fun diversion. Craig spent most of the time on the go-carts - lots of laps for him!!

After a few hours, we headed over to Brunswick Bowling Alley for a couple of hours of bowling. They announced a couple of contests throughout the night and Craig was the beneficiary of one of those contests. He made three strikes in a row and won a prize. Actually, he would like me to be fully accurate - he made four strikes in a row, all from behind the ball return machine. Way to go, honey. Near the end, they gave us donuts and juice. A great end to a long night.

We all returned back to church a little before 7 AM. I have to say that we were both exhausted. We were fine while we were moving, but as soon as we stopped, the tiredness set in. We came home and immediately headed into our camper for some undisturbed sleep. We were recovering through most of the day, but it was well worth it!!
