Fourth of July Camping Overview, Part 2

Sunday ended up being the only day that we were at the campground all day. It was a very relaxing day. We began with a trip to a new fishing spot. We all started out fishing, but it didn't last too long. Kalyn was still a bit tired from our late night out shooting fireworks, so she soon was laying down on the blanket resting in the shade as Craig, Trinity and I fished and Xander ran around.

Craig took time to teach Trinity how to put a worm on her hook.

The excitement came when I caught the fish of the day.

After lunch, we hit the campground's putt-putt course. It was fun for all. It was a good opportunity to teach Xander how to hold a golf club and teach Trinity how to line up her feet with the direction she was putting. Craig even got a hole-in-one!! Way to go, Craig!!

We returned to our camper and enjoyed some delicious watermelon. Our kids LOVE watermelon!! It was the perfect snack for a warm summer afternoon.

Then we headed to the beach area of the lake. We had fun splashing around and playing the the lake and the sand. It was a bit tricky as we tried to keep Trinity's stitches dry and clean. Kalyn had so much fun being flipped by Craig. The water felt great and it was a wonderful way to cool off for a bit.

After dinner, we headed out on one more fishing trip. Kalyn found the perfect place to watch the fish.
Trinity wanted to catch a fish so badly. She kept saying she really, really wanted to catch a fish - a catfish specifically. She was pretty patient, but wasn't able to reel in any of her bites.

Then Craig caught a fish, though - a catfish. Just for Trinity.

Monday morning, it was time to pack up and head back to regular life. However, we did manage to fit in a bit more fun before the trip was over. We headed out on one final walk around the lake. We brought our remaining bread and fed the ducks one more time. We had fun watching one of the baby ducks. In the beginning, he had no idea what to do - a piece of bread would land in front of him and he would turn and paddle the other way. However, Craig was patient. He had the kids lure the big ducks near the edge and he would throw more bread to the little guy. Finally, the little duck caught onto the fact that he was supposed to eat it and snatched up a piece. We were all excited he figured it out.

Along the walk, we found a new little river bed. Kalyn enjoyed watching the little bit of water flow over the rocks. Very soothing.

The kids each found a bird feather. That began their creativity and they each became a bird superhero for the remainder of the walk. We had Trinity the Dove, Kalyn the Eagle and Xander the Falcon. It was quite amusing to watch their display of "super powers".

Here, the kids found stumps to stand on in order to "power up"

Overall, the walk was a great way to say goodbye to Tanner Lake.

As Craig and I loaded up the camper and prepared to leave, the kids had a little more time to squeeze in some more bike riding and playground playing.

Soon, we were on our way to meet Craig's parents for lunch. The kids are going to enjoy a week with the grandparents as Craig and I head back home. The house will be quiet without the kids and they will be missed, but I know they will have a great time.
