Easter Morning

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."

Matthew 28:1-7

We love Easter - the celebration of the day Christ Jesus rose from the grave! What better reason for pure, eternal, true joy than this? We try our hardest to make Easter a special day of celebration without taking anything away from the real meaning of the day. Our day began (after breakfast and getting dressed) with our kids opening their Easter baskets. We don't do too much for baskets, usually something small. This year, we kept along the same lines.

The girls each got a batch of silly bands. Trinity came home with some from school about a week before and it fascinated her - these cool stretchy bracelets that are shapes when they are off your wrist, but fun bracelets on. We had hoped to get her some faith bands (bracelets in the shapes of various Christian symbols), but we couldn't find them locally. So, we ended up getting various musical symbols, such microphone, guitars and music notes. They loved them.
Each of the kids also got specialized gummy packs. Our kids love gummies and often have them for snacks and little treats. Xander got Spiderman gummies, Trinity received My Little Pony gummies and Kalyn got Dora gummies. Each child also got their personal duck-shaped bubbles. Lots of fun to come!!!
Xander's main gift was a new Cars car - Chick Hicks. He was actually with me when I bought it. As I was looking at the various Cars vehicles, I asked him to name the ones that he didn't have. I decided to get the one he could name. He loved it very, very much.

Following the baskets, we headed outside to take some quick kid and family pictures. I love any excuse to get a picture of all five of us dressed up. Not too bad!
Then it was off to church to celebrate with our friends and our church family! We began taking a few pictures of just the kids outside our church. I love the trees that are in front of our sanctuary.

Trinity was singing with the children's choir that morning. I just love to see her sing her heart out and worship.

It was truly a blessed day of worship!
